Camping Trip
From Thursday, August 25th to Saturday, August 27th, the brothers of Delta Phi enjoyed their annual leadership retreat. This yearly event is multiple days, usually involves camping and a difficult hike to challenge the brothers while cementing their bond.
This year was no different as brother Max Cane led the group on a trip to Mt. Monadnock in Jaffrey, New Hampshire. After another Troy heavy rain storm, the brothers were off to New Hampshire where they stayed at brother Max Barret-Lhu’s house to pass the rain. During a night of “silent football”, a few interesting moments occurred that will become “do you remember when…” memories during story telling sessions at the Delta Phi events.
After the night passed, it was a quick early morning ride to the entrance of the park at Mt. Monadnock. As you may very well know, a mountain never seems too daunting until you actually begin hiking. As such, the younger (read: newer) members of Delta Phi were naïve to the actual challenge of hiking (their first hiking/camping trip). Deciding on the white dot trail, the shortest but most challenging approach to the peak of the mountain, the brothers began the climb. After much sweat, a few raspy hands and cuts, we were finally at the peak of the mountain where we enjoyed the magnificent view of clear one-hundred miles in each direction. It was quite a sight to behold! The sheer beauty at the top is impossible to imagine. After that, the brothers began a new tradition at the peak that we hope future generations will be able to add to. Ready to make camp (with tired legs), the brothers descended the mountain through the same difficult trail.
Back at the campfire, the brothers devoured all food that brother Cane had brought. Around the campfire, brother Alex Updegrove described his plan for a new initiative to hold Delta Phi accountable for the goals we set for ourselves. After a night of rest, it was time to go back to Troy to begin the new semester.

Just a reminder about the information for this years' Alumni Weekend:

1 PM Venue Opens
2-6 PM Full Cash Bar
4 PM Brotherhood Meeting
6-8 PM Buffet Dinner
8 PM Venue Closes
8 - TBD Individual Group Plans
